Garry Riding
Managing Director

Garry started his career in insurance with Swinton where he was a branch manager from 1981 to 1992.

He set up Ridings Insurance and Advantage Insurance Centres, which now incorporates Police Insure, in 1992.

"My aim has always been to provide customers with highly competitively priced insurance products backed up with first-class customer service," says Garry.

"At Police Insure, we have tailored those products to suit the needs and demands of police officers and staff and extended the benefits of the cover and service we provide to their partners too.

"I genuinely believe that we offer great products, at competitive prices and, just as importantly, excellent customer service." Married to Paula, Garry lives in Bury and has two sons, Matthew and Daniel.

Mark Faint MBE
Director of Business Development

Mark joined Police Insure in January 2011, following 30 years' service with Cheshire Constabulary. He spent the majority of his career in CID at Halton and Warrington and on the Force Major Crime Investigation Unit.

For the last six years of his service, Mark had the privilege of being Chairman of Cheshire Police Federation and in 2011 he was rewarded with an MBE in recognition of his services to the Force.

Mark also works two days a week as the Business Development Manager for Cheshire Police Federation.

Randal Porter
Business Development Manager (London & Essex)

Randal was employed by the Metropolitan Police for 17 years between 2002 - 2019. Mostly working on specialist crime as a Detective, his deployments included Homicide investigation and Child Protection. Randal took early retirement from the Police in December 2019 and now divides his time between working for Police Insure as a Business Development Manager and his own Personal Development business. Based in Essex, Randal covers the London and Essex areas for Police Insure. On accepting his position as a Regional Business Development Manager, Randal commented that he  "Likes the fact that Police Insure does what it says on the tin,  insures Police Officers!"

Tony Laud
Business Development Manager (East & Midlands Regions)

Tony joined Cambridgeshire Police in 1980 and worked on various uniform duties in Cambridge and Peterborough until 1994 when he became the full-time Cambridgeshire Police Federation Secretary.

Tony retired from policing in July 2012 after 32 years' service but was re-employed on a part-time basis by Cambridgeshire Police Federation as Business Development Manager.

He started working with Police Insure in November 2012 and covers nine forces across East Anglia, the East Midlands and the Home Counties.

Martin Barber
Business Development Manager

Martin joined Police Insure in March 2019 following a slightly unusual career path having served in the Emergency Services with both the Police and Fire Service. Martin retired from Cheshire Constabulary in 2011 having held a variety of operational Uniform roles in Macclesfield, Halton and Warrington as well as at the Force Training Centre. Martin was later seconded "out of Force" for 3 years to National Police Training and on his return lead the Headquarters based strategic Community Safety Team playing a key role in the Force's implementation and delivery of its response to the Crime and Disorder Act plus the subsequent development of the key "Partnership Inspector" role finally retiring as Inspector with responsibility for the delivery of Custody Services.

On retirement from Cheshire Constabulary Martin immediately took up his post with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) as Community Safety Manager overseeing the local delivery of risk based fire prevention and community safety interventions within the diverse communities across Greater Manchester as well as developing a variety of "partnerships" with other key organisations and agencies to enhance the delivery of the GMFRS "Safe and Well" offer. Martin "retired" (again!!) in August 2017.

On accepting the role with Police Insure Martin commented "I'm really looking forward to working again with colleagues within the wider Police "family" across the North West region and relish the opportunity to be able to offer high quality products and services supported by readily accessible, knowledgeable and helpful staff  with a fundamental focus on excellent customer care."

Ian O'Brien
Business Development Manager (Yorkshire and the North East)

Ian joins the Police Insure family, having completed 30 years with West Yorkshire Police in March 2019.  His career in the Police was predominantly in uniform roles, and as an Inspector, concluded his career by leading a Neighbourhood Policing Team in Leeds District.  He also served five years as a Police Federation representative.
